Hard Rock Hotel Chicago and Gibson Guitar introduce “CHECK IN, ROCK OUT,” a new guest program in which both professionals and amateurs can jam in the privacy of their own room without disturbing those around them, thanks to the Line 6 pocket pod and a pair of headphones. Guests can choose from a wide variety of electric and acoustic guitars, such as the ES-335, Les Paul Custom Cherry Sunburst, the all-new SG Carved Top Autumn Burst, a Jack Casady Gold Bass, a Montana J-45, a Songwriter Deluxe Studio EC, the classic Hummingbird or a variety of many others.

As there is no charge or time limit to the program, guests are encouraged to sample the guitars and keep them for as long as they stay at the hotel.  Plans are in the works for a Gibson in-room channel dedicated to guitar lessons, as well as on-site jam sessions.

FINALLY! This is the moment Hard Rock fans and every guitar enthusiast around the world has been waiting for. The soon soon-to-be-opened Hard Rock Hotel Penang unveiled its Giant Hard Rock Guitar, a signature icon that can be found in most Hard Rocks around the world. This magnificent 18-foot guitar is located right in front of the lobby entrance. Starting with a parade along the streets of Batu Ferringhi in the morning, the unveiling was celebrated together with 190 newly-joined Hard Rockers.

The installation and raising of this signature guitar is a symbol of Hard Rock Hotel Penang nearing its completion. “The giant guitar is what defines Hard Rock. Almost anyone would most likely be able to identify this feature, something that is recognizable even from afar,” said John Primmer, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Penang.

In addition to this predominant guitar feature, both the Hotel and Cafe will be filled with over 500 pieces of rock memorabilia, from all over the world, from contemporary to classic, as seen in all the Hard Rocks around the world.

Hard Rock Hotel Penang and Hard Rock Cafe Penang will be opening their doors on 19 September 2009.  For booking or more information, please visit www.hardrockhotels.net or call +604 881 1711

Legendary Who frontman Roger Daltrey will go solo with his “Use It or Lose It” Tour at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Sunday, November 29. Tickets go on sale, Saturday, August 8 at noon.

As lead singer for The Who, Daltrey’s lent his Olympian pipes to a staggering array of enduring rock ‘n’ roll anthems. And, with plans for the band’s next tour still up in the air, Daltrey decided a solo jaunt – his first since 1985 – would be just the thing  “to keep my voice in trim, so I’ll be ready,” he explains. “Those songs demand a lot of voice!”

The legendary singer promises a healthy serving of Who songs, solo material – including some songs he’s never played live – and covers that pay tribute to his influences and admired contemporaries.

Tickets cost $85, $70, $55 & $45*; all seats are reserved and available at the Hard Rock Live Box Office, open Monday – Saturday from noon to 7pm and on Sunday – only open on event days at noon. Tickets also are available at all Ticketmaster outlets online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone: 1-800-745-3000. Doors open one-hour prior to show start time. *Additional fees may apply.

As the official hotel partner of San Diego Comic Con International 2009 (the biggest sci-fi and comic book convention in the world), Hard Rock Hotel San Diego became the epicenter for activity outside of the convention center. Here's some of the things that went on over the weekend:

  • SyFy’s Cafe Diem – Starting on Thursday, Comic Con’s opening day, officials from SyFy took over our Maryjane’s Coffee Shop transforming the restaurant into Cafe Diem, the fictional hang out from the network’s hit show Eureka. Everything was branded including the uniforms, menus, decor and even the toast! The buzz caught on fast and Cafe Diem became the not-to-miss place for casual dining for convention attendees and celebrities.
  • Entertainment Weekly – For the second consecutive year, the hotel partnered with respected entertainment publication Entertainment Weekly to become the backdrop for celebrity portraits and exclusive interviews throughout the weekend. The EW portrait studio is one of the most talked about aspects of Comic Com outside of the Convention Center. You can check out some great pics right here.
  • Wrath of Con – Billed as the “hottest ticket in town” IESB.net’s Wrath of Con Party took over Woodstock for the second year.  Between a slew of celebrity guests, a dramatic red carpet and a performance by America’s number-one band Daughtry, the party provided another chance to make Hard Rock Hotel San Diego the main attraction during Comic Con.
  • Radical Event featuring Nick and Gene Simmons – Our fantastic sales team secured the ultimate party for Saturday night with Radical Comics including special guests Gene and Nick Simmons and fellow members of KISS.

The convention just got over, and Hard Rock Hotel San Diego can't wait for next year. We'll see you there!
